Virtual Judging Elementary, Junior, and Senior

  • Students participating virtually will receive an interview time for judging several days prior to the interview
  • Students will login to the Zoom session and check connections with the Host 10-15 minutes prior to their interview time, 
  • when the Judges are ready for the interview, the student(s) will join a Breakout Room for Judging Interviews
  • Judges will have received all of the “Materials for Judges” that students uploaded into the registration system to review prior to judging.

Project Set-Up in Courts 1 and 8 Carmichael Wellness Center

Elementary, Junior and Senior Projects will ALL be set up on Courts 1 and 8 of the Carmichael Wellness Center across the street from Talley.  Students can unload projects from the parking lot that is in back of Carmichael.  They cannot park in this lot during set-up or for the day.

STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON ANY OF THE EQUIPMENT IN CARMICHAEL!!

Project Set-Up in Courts 1 and 8 Carmichael Wellness Center

Elementary, Junior and Senior Projects will ALL be set up on Courts 1 and 8 of the Carmichael Wellness Center across the street from Talley.  Students can unload projects from the parking lot that is in back of Carmichael.  They cannot park in this lot during set-up or for the day.  Students must clear rooms by 9:15 am!

STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON ANY OF THE EQUIPMENT IN CARMICHAEL!!

9:00 – 9:30 am

Exhibitor Set Up in Talley Student Union (TSU) – 3rd Floor

9:15 – 9:45 am Student Welcome and Opening - Talley Ballroom open to all students, family, teachers, administrators, and visitors 

9:30 am – 1:30 pm

Science and Engineering Exhibitor Booths at TSU 3rd Floor. (Students complete the passport and win a prize!)
9:45 am – 12:00 pm

Juniors and Seniors – free for visiting exhibitors, lunch break

10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Information Sessions for Students, Parents, Teachers (20 minutes each – to be announced) – Talley Student Center

10:30 am – 12:00 pm

Elementary Students Interviews at projects in Carmichael Wellness Center. ONLY students, Fair Personnel, and Judges will be allowed in the room during judging. Students must stay in the room with the room monitors until the end of the judging period when parents/guardians should pick up the students. Students should clear the floor for 30 minutes at 1:30 pm.
12:00 – 1:30 pm Elementary Students are free for lunch, visit exhibits on the 3rd floor of Talley Student Union

12:00 – 1:45 pm

Junior and Senior Interviews at projects in Carmichael Wellness Center.  ONLY students, Fair Personnel, and Judges will be allowed in the Junior and Senior Project area. Students must stay in the room with the room monitors until the end of the judging period.

1:30 – 3:30 pm

Elementary Projects Open to the Public - Students should be at their projects from 1:30 - 2pm. Students should divide their time between standing at their project and visiting other projects.

2:00 – 3:30 pm

ALL Projects Open to the Public - Students should be at their projects from 2:15 - 3:00pm. Students should divide their time between standing at their project and visiting other projects.

2:30 – 3:15 pm

Elementary Awards Ceremony in Talley Ballroom, 3rd floor, Talley Student Union

3:30 – 4:15 pm

Junior Awards Ceremony in Talley Ballroom, 3rd floor, Talley Student Union

3:30 – 5:00 pm Students Dismantle Displays – If displays are not dismantled by 5:00 pm, they will be removed by the Fair

NOTES:    
  • Students may begin check-in at Talley Student Union and setting up their projects in Carmichael Wellness Center as early as 3:30 pm Friday. All projects should be in place and approved by the Display and Safety Committee by 9:00 am Saturday for judging. Please allow time for the project to be inspected and approved prior to 9:00 am.
  • On Saturday - do not park in the pay area of the parking deck. The rest of the deck is free on Saturday.  The Fair is not responsible for parking tickets given to those parking in undesignated areas.  
  • Students found on the exercise equipment in Carmichael run the risk of being removed from the competition!
  • Closed judging will begin at 9:15am - students, parents and teachers MUST leave the Carmichael Wellness Center.  STEM Exhibitors will be set up on the 3rd floor of Talley across from the Ballroom area at 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.
  • Students may pre-purchase meal tickets for lunch from NCSEF online. The meal will be available at OneEarth located in TSU for $14 each by ticket only.  Other lunch options will be available for on-site purchase at TSU and Clark Dining Hall.
  • Students will stay with their projects during the scheduled judge interview period. Students should bring reading or a quiet activity to occupy their time when not being judged. ONLY students, Fair Personnel, and Judges will be allowed in the judging area. Students must stay in the rooms with the room monitors until the end of the judging period.
